Dear Friends . . .

HERE IS MY TALE ABOUT HOW I STARTED MY JEWELRY CREATIONS! . . . . .
Whereas I am known as a painter in various mediums . . I am also a sculptor, for the past decades - in which I battle with all sorts of stones . . . from Provence and Burgundy, granites, marbles from Italy and Portugal . . . hitting them to transform them into bas-reliefs, fountains, human shapes and other decorative elements, here in California as well as in France.
About one and a half years ago, my friend Manou - a luxury house builder in Silicon Valley - gave me the pleasure of ordering two large stone bas-reliefs from me, one at 30 feet long and another at 18 ft.
It was while producing this work that I perceived that at my grand age all this was beginning to be WELL ENOUGH; this type of sport, which amused me so much, is now weighing a little heavily upon me.
One night, I had trouble sleeping. It came from a daily load of happily hitting stone, under another great California sun, last August, with my back and right shoulder keeping me awake. And all of a sudden, in one of my nocturnal conversations, with myself, a little voice tells me: Bernard, do you know what you should be doing! ? No? . . Well, let me tell you: Simply stop taking stone sculpture work. . . .
- Yes, you might be right. .
- No, I'm absolutely right. .
- Very well, then, I'm listening. . . . it's decided, I'm stopping.
I finished those two panel orders and zip, no more talking about it.. . .I'm moving on to something else! . . .
A few days flow by. . . I reflect upon my decision, which still troubles me a bit, since sculpting is such a pleasure for me, taking a natural stone, hit upon it, torture it with all kinds of tools, some with barbaric names. . . Well, let's no longer talk about it. Suddenly, an idea talks to me, which I now consider as brilliant…" say, won't you have fun in sculpting small objects, such as jewelry, for example. You could take this on physically, right? . . . No problem !. . . ."
I'm set; I'll get right into it and that's what I determined to do. So, here I am now, a jewelry artist, and my story continues. . . . and that's what you'll find in my Boutique: some of my creations. . . Follow me here and you'll know all there is. Happy visiting!
